Our first week

The first week of our trip was dedicated to Dan's side of the family.  He wasn't able to stay the whole 2 weeks like I was, so we made sure to spend the time with all of his relatives and do the "Seattle" things that he didn't want to miss out on.  Our first day there was August 1st, Isaac's birthday!

First stop was a trip to visit Grandpa Eldon Hibbard.  This is Dan's 91 year old grandpa.  It was so sweet to say hello to him and spend a couple hours chatting with him.

Then we drove to Isaac and Micah's grandparents house!  Grandpa Steve and Grandma Carolyn met Micah, and saw Isaac for the first time since he was around the same size!

We had a lovely day running around their BIG grassy yard, and they had even found a few of Dan's old toys and brought them out for Isaac to play with!

We then went back to Jeff and Stephanie's (Dan's brother and sis-in-law...this is where we stayed while we were there!  They have the best house for company!  The whole downstairs is like your own private suite.)  for Isaac's FAMILY birthday party!  This was so much fun - not only was it his first family party, but he got to meet his Aunty Sarah (Dan's sis) and his new Uncle Jeff (Sarah's hubby) and his cousin ELSA!!!!  He and Elsa are 6 weeks apart and Isaac was so excited to meet her and play with her.  They have done Skype before, but never met in person.  Also....Aunty Steph made it super special by making the party theme "Monster Trucks" like he'd wanted in Florida!

First Richards family photo ever...well since all the kids were married and babies born.  Jeff set up the tripod and we got it done!  From top left:  Jeff R., Dan, me, Jeff M., Bottom left:  Steph, Elsa, Carolyn holding Micah, Steve holding Isaac, Sarah.  :)  There is a cute pic of Elsa and Isaac to come.

The next day was our Seattle tourist day.  Dan really wanted to take Isaac to the Seattle Center, Space Needle, and Pike Place Market.  Jeff and Steph took the day off from work and we had a wonderful time.  Jeff, Dan and Isaac went to the top of the needle and it just so happened that they caught the Blue Angels practicing for their upcoming shows!  We were pretty upset, though, when we got there to find that the "center" as we had known it (with all the kids rides and arcade games!) was GONE!
So?  We headed to Kerry Park for the views and for some great photo opps.
We also went to Dick's to eat the best lunch ever....but I'm skipping those pics.  :)

Then we headed to Pike Place.  These crazy Richards boys all have their feet on their Grandma Elsa's tile.  I didn't tell them to make goofy faces, they all just did!  Family??  Ya think?

For you Seattle folks - I had to get Isaac on the pig.  :)

The next day we spent with our bestest friends, the Elness Fam!  Brett and Dan grew up together and have been best friends forever!  Gavin, meeting Micah, is now 13 years old!  I have a picture of Dan holding him as a tiny baby, and I met him at his 3rd bday party.  It was so sweet to see him so grown up and take on a "big cousin" role with Isaac and Micah.  He was a wonderful kid and we had a blast that whole day.

We all used to go bowling a ton, so we figured we'd go since Isaac had never been.  Isaac scored a 74 for his first game.

I always manage to get one pic of these two looking like this.  so sweet.  Hehe

But now I get to snap one of these two, also!!

Next was the Hibbard Family reunion!!  Dan's family hadn't had a big get-together in many years (15 I found out later) and I thought it was worth a shot to see how many people could gather while we there.  Everyone got an invite (or an evite), and Kathy and Randy Hibbard offered their big beautiful yard to hold everyone for a potluck/bbq style day!  It was a blast!

Cousin Elsa!  How cute are they!!!???  6 weeks apart.

Here is MOST of the family that came!  Some left before we got around to snapping this.  But it was a great turn out and a whole lot of fun!  I especially loved meeting so many people in Dan's family, and it was really sweet to introduce our boys to their family....finally!

Our cousin, Linsay, is a photographer and she was kind enough to snap some pictures for us during the reunion.  She got some great shots of us as a family, but I just love this picture of the boys.  Thank you Lindsay!!!  You are awesome!

The last day Dan was in town was a SeaFair day!  Uncle Jeff and Aunt Steph live right in the SeaFair zone, so not only could we bypass driving to SeaFair...we could watch the Blue Angels from the front yard!  MY little sis, Kat, didn't want to miss Dan, so she joined our day.  Here she is meeting Micah!

Here are the boys watching for the Blue Angels!
There they are!!!!  The show was so awesome!  I don't care how many times you see these guys (and hear them!)....I get chills!  Its amazing...and something Isaac will never forget!

After the air show, Uncle Jeff had to go to work.  Jeff is the marketing director for both the Seattle Seahawks and the Seattle Sounders!  How awful that Jeff had to go to work and just so happened to be able to bring Dan, Isaac, and Aunty Kat along!?  HA!  Isaac had never been to a stadium and according to everyone, he never took his eyes off the game.

Thanks Uncle Jeff!  (And now Isaac is officially signed-up for soccer.)

Dan left the morning following this - which was pretty sad for all of us!  It was a great first week!
